DC1 - MC1 upgrade price?

Grizzard, Jr. on February 25, 1999 at 00:28:59: We paid the big bucks already getting the DC-1 when decked out at 5K retail. Nevermind what I paid for my DC-1, or what new customers will actually pay for an MC-1. That really does not matter that much. The key, is how much difference truely exists between the product and a "DC-1 upgrade". To me, the tradeoff value point is around 1K more than I can upgrade my DC-1 for give or take a hundred. We made a commitment to Lexicon by purchasing the DC-1. Hopefully, that commitment will be recognized by Lexicon, and they will assure us of hassle free, great upgrade offerings to keep their pre-pro in more high end home theaters than any other pre-pro built. Personally, if we get into 2K to 3K, the advantages of trading have disolved. For another 1 to 2 K, Proceed and Meridian become realistic possibilities, either keeping the DC-1 until the wheels fall off, or its totally outdated. Or conversely upgrading to a more cost effective product now, and selling the DC-1 to someone else. This neither helps Lexicon, nor would it make them look particularly good. Already, the DC-1 bottom out, is not being accepted to well by existing DC-1 customers, myself included. IMO, relative to market offering, the MC-1 is 1K higher than it should be anyway. This fact is made obvious by the price reduction of the DC-2 to 4K and a retail of 5K on pieces such as the Proceed AVP. I love my Lexicon, and hope I can stay with Lexicon. But I won't pay an exhorborant premium over what competitive products offer. Lets hope that is taken into consideration and bottom line, MC-1s all around! Lex
