DC1 - MC1 upgrade price?

Grizzard, Jr. on February 25, 1999 at 18:56:52: I agree with Bill. Phillip, you have offered a great deal of helpful advice on this forum, but I think that you are a little too supportive of Lexicon. In effect, as I mentioned on this site in January, the release of 2 new products destroyed the current value of my DC-1. Like many audiophiles, I have built my system through many trade-ups, usually at my loss. In fairness, I used the product for a period of time and I deserved to lose some of my original investment. I have no great allegience to any company, and my love of Lexicon has lessened since the current value of my DC-1 is LESS than $2500. Since dealers are selling them BRAND NEW for that price now, I figure my 1 year old DC-1 has a market value of about $1500. That stinks! This 65% depreciation is the fault of pee-poor marketing strategy on the part of Lexicon. They announce a new product, devalue the old product and then delay the new product's release date by months... No moron who would be interested in a Lexicon right now would go buy one untill they got to compare the new to the old. If I had $2000 bucks to blow, I would buy some desperado's old DC-1, wait for the trade in and get an MC-1 for effectively $3000-3500 range. Hmmm.. That doesn't sound like great support from Mother Lexicon. Personally, I would rather have a Meridian 561 or even their 861. Those products are completely upgradable in the future. The MC-1 is clearly not.
