If this number is correct I will be disappointed. To do some speculation...

It will cost $3500 to trade in my AC3 (non DTS) DC-1 and get the MC-1.

I could probably get 15% off the MSRP for a new MC-1 from my dealer. That makes the price $5100.

That makes the effective trade up value of my DC-1 only $1600. This is about market value. I will be very disappointed if Lexicon's trade up offer is no better then I could have received by going down the usual upgrade path of selling the old product and purchasing the new one outright.

No, Lexicon never promised me anything. And, yes, I think the $300 V3 upgrade is a reasonably priced way to keep the DC-1 as current as it's architecture allows. But I always believed that Lexicon would offer me a much better trade in value then I could receive by selling the unit on my own.

These numbers are all speculation and unsubstantiated rumors so I'm not going to get upset. But if they end up in the neighborhood of what's in this message, I will be giving other processors consideration when I choose to upgrade. In all likelihood, I would just get V3 and keep my DC-1. I don't see anything else on the market, including the Lexicon offerings, that offers me enough added value to warrant a multi-thousand upgrade. I'm sure many people will will spend several thousand dollars to upgrade and consider it money well spent. I don't fault them but I don't see it as being worth it to me.
