The figure being bandied about certainly won't encourage me to buy a MC-1. In fact, I have watched the prices of DC-1s plummet to the current $1200-$1800 level since the DC-2 was announced. Who wants an old technology when the new technology is almost the same price (I have been offered a DC-2 for $2000 by a dealer already). I should have sold my DC-1 when the rumors of the DC-2 started floating around last fall (could have gotten $2500+ then). But instead I listened to Lexicon's initial denials of a new model being developed.
The MC-1 will need to be unbelieveably good to justify its price. There is no way I can understand the near 2X price difference between the DC-2 and MC-1. Not to mention the current list of sub $3000 processors that sound great. The Logic-7 mode is what makes the Lexicon mark special. The MC-1 has better DACs? Yet Bart and Buzz have written us time and time again to save our money on the 24bit DAC upgrade. I am confused again.
