even if the feed is in mono, the surround effects should still be able to manipulate it such that its coming out more than just the center channel. it also doesnt explain why for a split second when changing effects its in surround then cuts out. but as we're sitting here, im just noticing that my VCR which the cable runs thru usually has a stereo indicator thats not on. so perhaps that is the problem, but i dont understand why selecting an effect isnt doing much to the what appears to be mono signal.

ok, that was the problem, i ran a cable straight from the wall into the system bypassing the cable box and all is fine, going thru the box converts it to mono for some reason. cable company says its not adjustable of course and it must be my equipment. swapping out the cable box monday :). still dont understand why the lexicon effects acted the way they did on a mono signal though. oh well, problem solved, i wont lose any sleep worrying about why. thanks! :)
