Using Mozilla/3.01-C-MACOS8 (Macintosh; I; PPC):

Lexicon processors perform volume control in the analog domain, after the final D/A conversion. The level is set by an IC controller, but the actual adjustment is analog.

Incidentally, this is true of just about all digital preamps that I know of. It's just too hard/expensive to implement digital domain volume control without losing resolution.
