I wonder what the ratio of ambient noise to system noise is. Think about how much noise there is in the environment as compared with that of a system that creates S/N of 90 db.

What is the total noise from the fridge, air conditioner, furnace, street, cat, significant spouse...? Even if you could eliminate all of those, you are still left with respiration, heart beat, and muscle noise.

I suspect that the noise from ones body that reaches the eardrum is many times greater than a S/N of 90 db.

My point...S/N's from high quality audio equipment is really pretty insignificant.
