Movie sound quality

Posted by Noah Katz [IP: 192.68.162.164] on April 12, 1999 at 22:30:34
Using Mozilla/4.5 [en] (X11; I; IRIX64 6.4 IP30):

It seems to me that basic movie sound quality, even DD5.1, isn't all that great. It doesn't sound nearly as good as a decent CD, not as clean or clear.

As an example, while in general the sound on Super Speedway is excellent, when they play the music accompanying the in-car footage, it sounds good, but somewhat constricted and bright. Lots of regular movie soundtracks are the same.

Does anyone else have this perception? Does anyone know what to do about it?

Thanks

Noah
