I have Grado's SR-325 ($450 CDN) cans. I have been admiring Grado's new headphone amp ($500, battery operated, mahogany housing), and their RS-1 ($900) reference headphones. I have a pair of SR-125's ($150) installed in my motor bike helmet, and they work great. I really like the Grado line, and highly recommend it.

I have also heard good things about the HeadRoom line. Never heard/seen one myself, but reviewers seem to like them.

I don't see any problem with using the Zone 2 out except then you have two volume controls in the signal path. Maybe Record out would be better, as you will probably have a volume control on your headphone amp.
