The DC-1 Block Diagram in every owner's manual clearly shows the analog input signal passed directly to the Zone 2/Rec outs without going through the A/D conversion for the main room signal path.

When I asked about it in the past, Bart and Buzz at Lexicon were both absolutely certain this is the case. And it's also consistent with my listening experience.

It's unfortunate the tech you spoke to didn't give you the correct answer. If you want to press the issue, ask him to check with one of the design engineers and get back to you.

All that being said, unless you have separate amp/speakers for the Zone 2/Rec outs, integrating the DC-1 main out and the pure analog imputs into your system is going to be cumbersome. I've been there (lots of analog gear) and it took a custom modified passive preamp with a unity gain pass-through to achieve it.

Are you sure it's worth it for those eight or so Chesky disks in a dead-end format? If you are, at least you can take comfort it is doable...

Cheers,

Philip Brandes
