Tricky DC1/biamping question Posted by SMR [WizOp] [IP: 212.211.21.49] on January 27, 1999 at 13:37:51: In Reply to: Tricky DC1/biamping question posted by Willy on January 27, 1999 at 12:39:08: Willy, Splitting the outputs of the DC-1 will be fine, but you'll not truly be gaining the benefits of bi-amplifying. To do that, you'll need passive or active crossovers before the amplifiers. First of all, you run the DC-1 channels full range, then the external crossover splits the signal two (or three) ways at the ideal frequency to suit your loudspeakers. One amp then only handles the HF component, the other the LF component. In your method, both amplifiers will still be sending the same signal to the loudspeakers. Getting another amp is a good idea especially if the price is right, maybe you could consider the "true" bi-amplification path sometime in the future if it doesn't appeal now.
