I disagree with your opinion. Balanced connections are the only consumer method of properly transmitting line-level signals because the shield of the cable is being used as a shield instead of a shield and a signal ground reference. I'm not asking for balanced connections because the other guys are doing it --- in fact, as I pointed out, Madrigal do not correctly implement their balanced connections. I'm asking for it because it is a superior method of transmitting line-level signals, and, properly implemented, can be hum free and immune from common-mode noise, of which there is a lot in a home theater.

If you look at pro equipment, they also transmit their line-level signals in balanced.
