You can get plenty of cables with a seperate 'drain' from the signal ground. I've even seen some that offer a connection for a totally seperate shield ground...though they are expensive. You could build one yourself for far less.

With carefull grounding of all my equipment (and good power filters) I don't have any noise or humm in my system.
