Relax on the balanced output guys!

But on other equipment that simply converted single-ended signal to balanced via op-amps, forget it. Here, there is also the 6dB difference between the 2 formats, which many people seem to forget and think that balanced connection sounds better (becos it's 6dB louder).

You my be thinking of the +4 to -10 decibel difference--which would be a 14 dB difference...Any piece of equipment rated as pro will run at a +4 signal level. Though a lot of pro manufacturers (like DBX) are now offering a switch between +4 and -10 as consumers are (smartly) starting to use pro gear within their systems, and if you try to run a +4dB signal into a consumer level –10dB piece of gear, it's big time distortion.
