It is made from the long excisting technic Dolby Surround Matrix. Yes, it is MATRIX. It mixes matrix analog information from left & right to center surround. It could be compared to normal Dolby Surrounds front stage decoding technic. You could even make a fake EX to home know, take one normal DD/DS decoder and connect the DVD/LDs digital cable direct to it. When the signal is turned from D to A, now, take this surround RCA cables to another decoders ex. AUX input which carrys only analog decoding with built in TRI-LOGIC circutry. Now you decode the surround signal once more but throught TRI-LOGIC circutry. Now you take from this second decoders front stage! the RCA cables and feed this to a 3-channel amp and from there the speaker wires to surround speakers which you have as 3 together. Now you have FAKE EX. Lexicons 4.0 & 5.1 Logic-7 will do it in the same way as EX. It is MATRIX which is fed to center surround. But in Logic-7 you have two center surrounds. Therefor it could be sed that EX is going backwards in the technology !
