:: Me? I can't wait to get those 192kHz recordings so I can hear the bats flying around!

: It'll be interesting to learn what those folks who expect to hear frequencies of 48kHz from 24/96 software
: know about the noises musical instruments make
...

You know what is going to happen?
All sorts of high frequency stuff is going to sneak in. I think it is going to be embarassing. And if they LPF it out then they have just defeated the whole point of wasting bits for a higher sampling rate.

I've been looking at some CDs that had analog masters. Some recent stuff. It is amazing at how often I see -25dB tones in the 15 - 20kHz region. It is kind of scary what these things could do to your tweeters if you cranked it.

Have you heard about the return to the analog movement in the music studio's? Actually this sort of thing is becoming a sought after premium. Funny huh? And its not just the tube amp / vinyl audiophile argument anymore. Musician's are wanting this.

I have this friend who has this retro-analog studio and I've been wanting to check out the hype with my analyzer. Why does it sound better? I'm a skeptic and my bet is some high freq or infra stuff is sneaking in and and that is what is perceived as better.

Anyway, this relates to the 96/192kHz stuff in that the studies have shown it to be better but they don't know why.

My guess is its the bats or the HAMs!!!
Or its the fact that sloppy DACs now are more accurate since you've upped the sample rate.

I have to say I do respect Lexicon's position of caution on this matter, but like I said, the high-end consumer is a fickle and irrational creature. This caution could backfire and hurt sales.

I also want to thank Lexicon for not going Windows CE on the MC-1, I would of lost all respect for them if they had. :P
