I could not even begin to count how many doubters there were, and look at DVD now. It's growth is unreal. Early DVD demonstrations looked horrendous. Industry pundits, myself included stood around, watched the video playback and declared that unless some improvement was forthcoming, DVD offered nothing, apart from multi-channel audio over VHS. The general conclusion was that laserdisc was superior in every way. The growth came after DVD technology improved whereby the image quality surpassed laserdisc - then the format became viable and those who had only experienced VHS found the image stunning. We're not in this situation with DVD-Audio, what we have now, be it two-channel in 16-bit 44.1kHz or 48kHz or multi-channel in DTS is excellent; DVD-Audio will not improve on either in leaps and bounds, it's a small increment, unnoticeable in most systems. : In addition, I just do not agree with your thoughts on DTS. I do not think it is dead, though there might be initial problems, it is far from dead in my opinion. You're going to have to define your use of the word "initial". The problems DTS have had over the years have been perpetuate and now, years on, still exist just as they did on day one. We should run a forum sweep on how long the company lasts - I'd bet we won't need to look further than the year 2000.
