Stupid Question re trigger

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.5; Mac_PowerPC):

I finally got my MC-1 and have had great fun setting it up and trying the options. My confusion comes from the "trigger" settings for the various inputs.

The only triggered item I have connected is the LDD-1 for my laserdisc player. I thought, from reading the manual, that I could configure the MC-1 to switch on the trigger only when I access the laserdisc input by setting it to "enable" and all others the opposite. But no matter how I set the trigger setting for the various inputs, the LDD_1 comes on at power on, and goes off when the MC-1 is shut off, regardless of inputs selected. It is connected to the MC-1 with the DIN cable that came with the LDD_1.

Am I missing something obvious? Or do I just misunderstand the whole "trigger" concept? Thanks in advance!
