Philip --

Thanks for the kind words. I've had some experience with the loose card phenomenon; my DC-1 has a DTS board that seems to come loose whenever the unit is moved. Just tonight, I had to pop the cover and reseat the card to get the DC-1 working when I reinstalled it back into the system. One of the things I was hoping to see with the MC-1 was a sturdier design and build, since it's a given that these things will get shaken up in shipping. The MC-1 certainly *feels* more solid, but who knows?

I know the MC-1 is a different architecture, but my experience with the DC-1 has been that, when something's loose, the unit doesn't function. It's not an intermittent phenomenon, like the one I've been experiencing.

I appreciate your suggestion, though, and I agree that Lexicon is an extraordinarily responsive organization. OTOH, I've just started a week's at-home vacation, with major home theater movie-watching plans; and instead of watching movies, I've spent most of the last two nights futzing with wires and inputting and re-inputting settings. For now, at least, I've had it. Maybe in a few weeks, I'll be willing to try again.

As a general rule, when I get a product that doesn't work right out of the box, I take it back. That's what I'm doing with this MC-1. I agree that it's almost certainly not a bug. It's a defective unit. You may be right that the defect is easily remediable, but I'm not willing to invest any more time into this particular unit, particularly when I've got a working DC-1 that still sounds pretty darn good.

M.
