Hi Daniel,

: Unfortunately the price difference between the 2.5i and 2.9 is quite significant (US$1200), actually they are both selling at U.S list prices of US$1600 and US$2800 respectively. Hence if I were to get the 2.9 I could only afford the SuperOnes as my other 4 channels.

I would still encourage you to consider the 2.9s--in my opinion, getting the best sound across the front outweighs the surrounds if you plan on serious music listening. To save some money, you might consider Super Zeroes instead of Super Ones--I find the SuperOnes get their bass extension by cheating and overbloating it, and you really can't cross them over at 40 Hz anyway--so if you're only using them from 80 Hz up the Super Zeroes have the same mids and highs, and are more linear in their response. I think they should work fine for surrounds.

As far as Bass Enhance goes, LF extension at the sides is far more important than the rears. That may be a factor in your planning.

Good luck,
Philip Brandes
