:You may be right, Andre. I heard the Super Ones in a dealer's shop in rather cramped circumstances (actually, I think you know the shop out in Goleta). The guy assured me the bloat I heard was representative of their sound in general.

Well, I guess that goes to show that you really have to audition audio components at home, because when I heard them there, they had subjectively tight bass (similar to your Dynaudios), and by comparison, the PSB Alphas, also heard there on the same stands in the same position, had the warm, elevated BBC bass. The PSB though bloated bass in a most pleasant way, while the current bloat I have induced in my S1's is not as subjectively pleasing. They seem to bloat below the warmth region, which leads to rubbery sounding bass, if that makes any sense at all.

:I also heard them crossed over at 80 and compared with the Super Zeroes at the same crossover they sounded identical.

That's the amazing part about the S1 and S0 --- Ken Kantor and company worked really, really hard on making the S1 sound like the S0, except with more bass, and I think they've succeeded.

So I guess we end up concluding what we all know already --- listen to speakers at home with your setup. I would encourage the original poster to listen to as many speakers as possible --- that in itself is quite an education.
