Comments on speakers purchase

The LCR-55 are on permanent loan, they were only originally sent along so a VX-7 Mk.II could be evaluated in a complete M&K system. The VX-7 was the official review item. Since then, M&K have also provided a VX-100 and MX-700 (both subs) for review and again allowed me to borrow some satellites. I'm expecting a V-1250THX this week, but no satellites this time… unless they surprise me. Incidentally, for those of you who have asked, the new REL (Q200E) arrives tomorrow and I'll post my findings when I get a chance (busy week). I'll upload the specifications into Forum 2 later (there's no sign of them on the REL site). : Because they are THX, they are sensitive to listening position, especially vertically. I have heard some describe M&K's as lacking in highs. I believe this is probably caused by the listener being too far off axis. Listener position appears critical almost throughout the M&K range. Most models have some level of controlled HF dispersion and therefore placement is critical, as is high-pass filtering. Do you have any idea why, while I'm generally pleased with the LCR-55, I find them too bright?
