Matt,I was in your situation a few weeks ago when I was trying to decide if going to Logic-7 was worth the added expense of new surrounds and another Amplifier. My Theater Room is only slightly larger then yours (12ft wide x 13ft long). I decided to go for it anyway. I am using a DC-1 THX/AC-3/DTS w/ver3.1 chip. I bought (4) Atlantic Technology 374SR surrounds and a Parasound HCA-2003A 3-channel AMP. I use the Parasound AMP for the (3) fronts & I switched my existing 5-Channel B&K AMP for powering the (4) surrounds. The rears are mounted 20 inches from the side walls and the bottom of the speakers are about 10 inches above my ears, although the actual tweeters are another 15 inches above that because the speakers are 19 inches tall. I tried inverting the speakers to bring the tweeters lower as suggested in the Atlantic manual but it ended up sounding too bright and I switched them back. The sides are mounted at the same elevation but 55 inches from the back wall slightly forward of the seating area. Because of the triangular "wedge" design of the Atlantic's, one "face" of the side speakers ends up aiming directly at the listening position. My main seating position is just forward of the rear wall and after proper speaker location configuration on the processor everything sounds great. I think it was well worth the investment of time & money. The room actually sounds like it is larger then before. Shawn
