Bass Enhancement for Aerials
Posted by Andre Yew [IP: 208.8.104.2] on June 30, 1999 at 10:53:56 In Reply to: Bass Enhancement for Aerials posted by Bruce Cassell on June 29, 1999 at 14:02:20: Hi Bruce, One thing to remember about DD 5.1 is that it assumes that the 5 channels are full-range, in addition to bass added by the .1 channel. The .1 channel can and does contain information not carried in any of the other channels, so unless you want to redirect bass to your other speakers, the .1 channel is necessary. The answer to your question then should be both! Get full-range sides and a .1 channel. For music listening modes, the .1 channel can be turned off in each individual effect. Also remember that bass enhance doesn't necessarily need response way below 40 Hz to work, so you may not need monster subs on the side channels. As always, experiment and see what sounds best to you --- it looks like you already have excellent taste by choosing an Aerial system, so you should trust your judgment on these things. --Andre
