Sorry, I've never heard the NHT 1a's. When I heard the Super Ones, they did sound a little bloated in the bass, but they were in a pretty cramped situation.

I agree, though, that they are very nice speakers and a great value. My point, though, was that when crossed over at 80, the Super Zeroes sounded just as good (identical, in fact) so in that situation I felt spending the extra money just for more bass extension (which itself was suspect) wasn't warranted.
