The Theta David (DVD/CD, $4500) and Voyager (LD/DVD/CD, $6500) output 24/96. The Muse model 8 does as well, but it uses the I2s digital out which is not compatible with the MC-1. The soon to be released Proceed MDP (I've been told to expect a $5000 list) will also output 24/96. The CAL players, AFAIK, do not. I don't know of any other high end DVD players that at least almost real. Note that the Theta and Proceed players are transports only, they have no internal DACs. The proceed could have a DAC card as an option, but the rep I talked to didn't mention it.

So if you want 24/96, you're stuck with either one of the above or a Pioneer. The Theta & Proceed transports are both upgradable (in theory, anyway) to play DVD audio when it is available and a digital i/o standard has been established.

Your best short-term bet may be to buy a Pioneer 414 for $250-$300.
