Lexicon Sides & Rear surround allocation

Seriously, I believe that the sides are made up of information from both the front left and right channels, as well as rear channel information. I think it's likely information within a certain frequency ranges that is either duplicated or extracted from those channels to create the side discrete channels.

Thats my take on it.
