ISF Calibration / MC-1 scare
Posted by Steve C. [IP: 216.50.33.102] on July 28, 1999 at 17:32:04 The tech got about 90% through the ISF calibration of my system when we encountered a lack of green situation when running RGB through the Faroudja. Result of same was a violet cast to the test grey tones. Not good. First thought was it might be a processing problem with the MC-1, but we were quickly able to rule that out by taking the Faroudja out of the signal path and running S video directly to the projector from the DVD player. Color was perfect, but lines were not doubled. So we have narrowed it down to either the doubler, a bad RGB cable, or the RGB input card on the projector. Tonight my dealer is lending me another doubler so that I can see if the problem persists with the use of a different doubler. I'll also be swapping the R and B cables, so after tonight, I'll likely know what the problem is. The tech sure liked the MC-1, though, and I breathed a great sigh of relief when we ruled it out as the source of the color problem. What's interesting is that I've watched several movies and didn't realize how much green was missing from the picture. Green is present, it's just not what it should be. However, it was worth every penney to have a knowledgeable tech come out and adjust the projector geometry - which is a very complex and precision demanding job.
