Internal noise test problem
Posted by Will Mecklenburg [IP: 165.236.189.201] on July 31, 1999 at 00:02:48 When I perform an internal noise test in conjunction with a Radio Shack sound pressure meter I get almost no bass. I also get very low readings for most of the 7 speakers as well (~65Db or less) unless I crank up the Db to +5 or more. Then when I exit the test and listen to various source material the settings for bass (and mid/high) are much too high. The strange thing is that I hve tried this with the same results using two different Lexicon's. I have swapped amps as well. Now before you tell me that my speaker is too blame I get great bass when listening to (for example) DD trailers. When I mess around with the sub limiter I get TOO Much bass when the limiter is above +2 Db. I am at witts end! My local auio store owner and installer are miffed as well. Can anyone help? In case it helps I am running all NHT speakers with B&K amps. Front left and right are 3.3 all other speakers are AC-2. The 3.3 is bi-amped. Lex settings are bass enhancement on, all speakers set at small with an 80Hz crossover, sub out is split to the subs of each 3.3 with a crossover of 80Hz.
