Dialog enhance is really a matter of personal preference. It a +3 or +6db boost in dialog frequencies. Sort of a targeted equalizer. It has no effect on any other channel.

I use it alot, especially for movies with lots of dialog mixed with loud effects, guns, car chase, bombs etc.

I find that dialog enhance makes the center sound a little out of whack with the rest of the system. It is either that or not hear what people are saying.
