Hi Philip,

Wow! Chill out. I didn't think that my innocent question would release such a firestorm.

: How many double-blind comparisons have *you* conducted, on what gear and with what A/B switching equipment (which itself has been shown to mask difference and steer results towards the null hypothesis)?

Whether I have personally conducted double-blind comparisons (I have in many clinical trials) is irrelevant to their aptness. You made a categorical statement and I just asked what was the basis of your opinion. What ever happened to the marketplace of ideas where our views can be freely and unreservedly cross-examined?

: But to assert the negative, that no opinion is valid without such data to back it up, is trying to limit the discussion field.

I've made no such assertions and it cannot reasonably be inferred that I have.

: There is also ample evidence that better-resolution DACs and ADCs, lower published noise floor, and increased
dynamic range specs play a very straightforward role in verifying the judgement of our ears .......

If these result in AUDIBLE consequences then they should be evident in the blinded comparisons.

Was your evidence that A/B switching masks differences based on double-blind A/B comparisons (just kidding!)?
Seriously though, where is such evidence?

Regards,

Jim
