I don't know that we disagree about A-B testing. Even a reviewer of the highest integrity might well have great difficulty removing his/herself from biases and preventing from being confounded by less than a perfect "audio memory". My point is that if one is unable to pick out the 'better' of piece A or B reliably,reproducibly ,and consistently (by listening alone, without other cues) I would have serious doubts about the validity of their conclusion, if in fact they concluded that one sounds "better". There are all sorts of excuses for this type of testing not being done, which in my estimation makes even the best of subjective reports just another of many opinions. Hence my statement to you about one sounding "wee" better and not "way" better undoubtedly has little value to you, and likewise with the other varying opinions you will receive. I'm in full agreement with Jim on this.
