Bass Enhance Test

Yes, bass enhance works best when the subs are to the side because the best spatial impression of bass comes from lateral bass, per Griesinger's paper.

Placing a sub in the corner is easiest way to get a decent sounding location for a sub, but it is not optimal for bass enhance, because corner placement drives all room modes. Bass enhance tries to supress certain room modes to enhance the perceived spaciousness of bass, among other things.
