How important is build quality?

I had an EAD TheaterMaster before the DC-1 and I can categorically state it was the most laughed-at product I have ever owned by those who didn't know what they were looking at. The Lexicon has never drawn attention to itself in this way.

Those who did know what the EAD was/did simply pointed at it and muttered something about more money than sense (I tend to agree) but even then it wasn't revered as a piece of furniture.
