DC-1 1.11 NO DTS upgrade with 2.1 DTS chip?

Using Mozilla/4.5 [en]C-AtHome0405 (Win95; U):

Hi,

A good friend of mine has a DC-1 AC3/THX with the 1.11 software. When I upgraded my DC-1, the 2.1 DTS chip was returned.
Can the 1.11 be swapped with the 2.1 DTS chip to get DTS decoding?

Sorry for my ignorance, still learning.
