Folks,

A warning of things to come…

Within the next few days you will see some important and significant changes to these forums. A new interface (already fully functional) will take the place of the existing message boards. It will offer a web interface plus the ability to participate via E-mail and your favourite newsreading client, Forté Agent, Outlook Express or Netscape Navigator for example.

The new interface is also on a new server, so at the moment I am waiting for the InterNIC (Network Solutions) to transfer the domain name. This could happen at any time so be prepared, you will most likely encounter an error 404 (page not found). If and when that does happen, simply follow the instructions upon that page.

The end of the billing period for the current host draws ever nearer, and I have no intention of paying for another month. If therefore, the domain is not transferred before that date, there may be a short period during which the forums are unavailable, for which I apologise in advance.

In the current forum system, there are approximately 34,760 messages, none of which will be lost; they will all eventually be transferred as a read-only archive to the main SMR Home Theatre site and may also be made available on a CD-ROM.

Finally, I'd like to thank all the regular visitors to these boards for their contributions and support with a special mention of Alan and Nigel for all their tireless, unpaid and sometimes thankless work.
