Each DC-1 upgrade includes one software EP-ROM (the operating software and decode algorithms) and if you're going from THX to either of the 5.1 systems you'll also receive a Z-GAL (another IC). Changing from THX to Dolby Digital or DTS/Dolby Digital, or changing from Dolby Digital to DTS/Dolby Digital also includes a daughtercard with the appropriate processing on board.

Each hardware upgrade will ship with the latest software (v4) and the new remote control.

What you actually receive depends on the configuration of the DC-1 you purchase and the level of processing you wish to upgrade to.

The upgraded DACs are a separate entity and are not required.
