: My question is - Am I going to be receiving with my upgrade a new remote?

No. The V4 remote is the same for the MC-1. Only DC-1 owners with pre-V3 software need the redesigned DC-1 remote.

: Secondly I understand that the upgrade will cost $100.00 initially (I believe through December 15th). Can I expect an additional charge for the labor? Or should it be included in the $100.00 price.

This is really up to your dealer, but if you bought the unit from them I think free installation is a reasonable expectation. FYI, the upgrade involves removing and replacing an easily accessible EEPROM chip (10 minutes max. for a novice, much faster for a service tech) so if they try to sell you on some involved 6-hour service procedure you can tell them where to go!

I'd suggest making sure you write down all your current setup configurations and custom effect parameters before you install the upgrade--that will make the setup much easier when you get it back. (Still a good idea to recalibrate the speaker volumes, though).

Hope this helps,
Philip Brandes
