DC-2 in closed case, how hot is too hot?
Posted by Aaron Cherington [IP: 216.120.17.21] on October 27, 1999 at 00:17:30 I have a DC-2 in a case with a glass door and about 1 1/2" clearance above and 2" on all sides. I drilled holes in the back for the interconnects. IS that not enough ventilation? Even with the door open, it is very warm. I am afraid to close the door, when using it for extended periods. I read and earlier post about when it gets too warm the unit can sometimes emit pops or something like that. Well I was watching DSS and all of a sudden I heard a Haaaaach! that last about 1 second that seemed to come from all channels. I checked for loose connections and I could not find any(that does not mean that I may not have one). It has now happened about three times. Any ideas on this? So far I have only experienced this on DSS. If anybody has advice on installing a fan in the cabinet, please advise. thanks, Aaron
