MC-1 best upgrade prices?

Traded-in DC-1s are being sold on the audio newsgroups for around $1700-1900. Normally a trade-in is applied to full retail price, so you're getting a $3600 credit towards the MC-1 for your DC-1. Assuming the possibility you could sell your DC-1 and purchase an MC-1 at a 10% discount (hard to find while the product is still backordered), it would cost around $5000 (new MC-1) - $1800 (sold DC-1 if you can find a buyer) = 3200. If you can get an MC-1 for $2345 without the hassle of selling your DC-1, it sounds like a decent savings. Bargain or not, it's still $2345 though! Before you pop for it, just as a sanity check, consider two questions: - Is the rest of your system (especially speakers) capable of revealing the difference with the MC-1? There are a lot of systems out there for which the DC-1 is a good match. - How much faith do you have in the new multichannel formats (DVD-A and/or SACD)? I suggest you take a good look at your entire system and assess where the best allocation of that $2345 would go.
