I came very close to buying Def Techs but ruled them out for the following reasons.

1. The F/B firing bipoles create an effect that can't be turned off or adjusted. It is great if you like it, but you are stuck with it.

2. Lexicon recommends room acoustics that inhibit rear/side wall reflections. The Def Techs create these reflections by design.

3. Imaging is less precise due again to the bipole design.

4. There is no flexibility for sub placement since the dual subs are part of the speaker. With separate subs, one can place them so as to optimize room nodes.

5. The Def Tech subs are not servo-feedback controlled like say a Velodyne or Mirage. A servo sub usually has lower distortion and is better for music.

I went with satelites and dual dedicated subs for front L/R.

Many, many people have Def Techs and just love 'em. It is really what sounds good to you.

Hope my opinions help.
