I can't answer for Mr. Holman.

Since he developed the THX standards, I would guess he still favored satellite / subwofer speakers crossed over at 80 Hz for home theater.

IMO, multi channel music reproduction is evolving and at odds with established home theater standards. At some point in the distant future I expect them to converge but for now, serious home theater has different requirements than existing multi channel music reproduction.

This could be a long discussion and I am not good at typing.
