How to avoid the EX upgrade cost

An old saying goes like this. "Locks are for honest people." While it is likely that no system is entirely secure, I am sure that Buzz (yes I do remember him :) was concerned about general security and not the mad Lexicon hackers.

Seems to me that either one of your excellent ideas would be secure enough if the serial number, for example, had to match between the upgrade software and the Lexicon unit you own. I know, it would mean that Lexicon would have produce each floppy or CD separately, and not in volume quantities. Still... at $300 a pop, I suspect it could be done. Better yet, over the internet. 24 hour service and a lot less cost, for both consumer and Lexicon.

Just a thought!
