Are you by any chance using the DTS Music effect? The default subwoofer level IN THIS EFFECT is set to -10 dB, to compensate for the exaggerated LFE mix of so many DTS discs. to adjust it, go into the Effect Adjust menu and set the sub level wherever you want it. this will not affect the system-wide sub level.
