: I spoke with a rep from Yamaha last night who said that they shipped yesterday, which means that we should see them in stores within a week or two. It will list for $799USD.

Thanks, Joe. I note that the new RX-V795 is now listed on Yamaha's web site (see link below). After reading up about it on that site, I have a new concern. The RX-V793 has a dynamic power output of 130W into 8ohms and a damping factor of 200. The new RX-V795 has 115W and 80 respectively. The latter figure particularly concerns me - does this mean that the power supply in the 795 is significantly inferior to that of the 793? Has Yamaha included DTS and a 6 channel input at the cost of a decent power supply (I understand that the MSRP for the 795 is the same as the 793)?

On that note, could somebody please explain to me in more detail exactly how much of an effect a good power supply has over a bad one, and why? I know it has something to do with being able to control the speaker drivers rather than just letting them bounce away, but would like a more technical explanation!
