Simmilar problem here too. I ordered Onkyo 656 (I can't wait to get my hands on it..) and now thinking of a decent DVD player. 656 has DD decoder only and I'm looking for a DVD player with onboard DTS decoder OR a separate DVD player and decoder (656 has 5.1 ins) - actually I'm not sure wether I need DTS at all.
I noticed DTS has some problems. Not enough DTS titles etc. I think Stuart explained this problem very well. So, now I'm in a doubt, if I buy a DVD player will it be able to play new DVD-audio format? What about DTS encoded moovies, are there any at all? What about any future formats (consumer version (??) of SDDS etc.). News about (possible) future 6.1 or 7.1 formats are making this thing even more complicating.

What to do? I belive DD is the only solid investment so far (Is it a part of a DVD moovie standard (??). DTS seems like a lost investment for a moment (only few DTS titles, how about moovie DTS, any?) BUT DTS should sound better than DD so...
I'm simply lost in this jungle of standards. But, one thing at a time.. for a moment I need advice on DVD players. Which one to buy (taking into concern the above factors). Should I invest in an external decoder (is DTS worth of it)?

Thnx

Damir

: I currently own a 5.1 ready receiver that I'm very happy with (Nakamichi AV-1), and am in the market for a DVD and the new Dolby Digital DSS satellite.

: Is there a DVD player with DD built-in that can act as a processor for external DD signals?
