Yamaha RX-V795 Posted by Graham Evans [IP: 141.120.3.4] on October 29, 1998 at 00:22:14: In Reply to: Yamaha RX-V795 posted by Jeff Helmes on October 28, 1998 at 19:32:26: : There is an excellent technical article on amplifier power called "POWER and IMPEDANCE EXPLAINED" at http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Hills/4133/know.html ... Thanks, Jeff, the article is indeed excellent and explained a lot. I'm even more troubled now! I'm glad somebody else knows the pain I'm feeling! : Obviously a higher damping factor is a result of a beefier, more stable amp (again check out the above article for amp stability.) Whether the 793's amp is 200/80 times better than the 795, or 1.85/1.74 times better...who knows? Reality is somewhere inbetween for sure. All I know is that I'm far too neurotic to deal with knowing my receiver has an 80 damping factor when another could be had cheaper with 200! Damn these infernal tech specs! I couldn't agree more, these specs are causing me many headaches! In reality though, would the difference in sound between a 793 and a 795 be THAT different? Am I worrying too much about minor differences? It appears the 793 had basically the same amps in it as the 992. On that note, is there any speak of a 995 being released? That could be a solution to all these worries! Graham
