DSP-A1 speaker phase problem??? Posted by BoB Womack [IP: 209.144.224.43] on October 29, 1998 at 13:23:59: In Reply to: DSP-A1 speaker phase problem??? posted by GDS on October 29, 1998 at 11:31:17: : The problem is not within the receiver. If the terminal connections were out of phase at the receiver, you would short out the receiver because the chassis is grounded to the black (-) input. If the (+) side was crossed to the (-) you would know it. : Take a 9 V battery and hook it up to each set of speaker wires and check to see the woofers from each speaker move in phase. I probably gave too little information, but I can tell you with absolute confidence that it is not the speaker or the wire. I have had two years of excellent history with the exact same set-up using an older Yamaha receiver. All manufacturers and arrangements are identical. The only change is the new DSP-A1. There is no way it is with the speaker or wire because I already meticulously tested the old system and it performed fantastically. All I did was switch amps.
