: Ok, I spent an hour last night demoing the A1. DTS, DD, straight stero. All I have to say is WOW. That is one wicked machine.

: My question:
: Are there any reasons that I should not join in this union. ;-)

: Take in to account that I think that lots of DSP modes is a good thing.

: Now a note to my fellow Canadians. What is your best quoted price form the A1 (obviously in CND $s) The one and only price I have so far is $3700. Thats about $2400 US incase you are wondering.

: Bob.

Now, back to your question....

I have spent the better part of my off work time browsing the web in all sorts of places about the A1. There are lots of opinions out there about this unit.
Most feel that it's a GREAT unit with few, if any, flaws, some would rather go with the minimalist approach, but NONE have found problems with the unit. So if you like DSPs AND like the sound, then go for it. I did, expecting mine in a week.

As far as price, I have found multiple mail order sources for the black model as low as $1950, even the gold for $2075. But, none came with the Yamaha Warranty. I got mine through the military exchange for $1799. I think I will have to pay $100 import, but still the best deal I could find and it comes with the Yamaha warranty. Use this as a guide to getting the best price. If you can find it anywhere near these prices, then rest assured you did the best you can. Sorry, I can't help you with Canadian... Good Luck and enjoy the BEAST, I will. CST

BTW, check out the attached link for LOTS of reviews from owners of the A1. Very informative...
