HDCD?

Greetings,
I was wondering about HDCD encoding/decoding -- is this format viable? Is it being supported? Anyone know if any A/V Receivers decode HDCD? Haven't heard much about it, other than to notice that I have some HDCD encoded CDs and wonder how they'd sound through a system that was decoding it. Anyone?
